Past projects
Here’s a look back at some of my past gardening and building projects that have shaped my approach to gardening and offered valuable insights for future endeavors. We have made some mistakes but you live and learn, right?
Building My Dream Patio was A Journey of Creativity, Craftsmanship and Outdoor Living
When I first imagined the idea of building a patio, I envisioned a cozy, welcoming space where I could relax, entertain guests, and enjoy the beauty of nature right in my own backyard. The existing patio was made 2003 by the previous owner of the house and really needed an upgraid. After months of planning and research, I took the plunge ( or should we say my husband did..) and embarked on what turned out to be a rewarding and transformative project. Creating new patio replacing the old one was no small task, but it was definitely worth every hour of effort and labour. Here’s a look back at the process of where we started and where we are now. I can`t describe the joy of seeing it all come together ( and the joy was deffenetly all mine )
The end result exceeded my expectations. All thanks to my talented husband who has proven time and time again that if i can dream it, he can build it. The patio transformed the backyard into a beautiful, functional space that I’m proud of. It’s now a place where I can relax with a good book, host summer barbecues, or just sit back and enjoy, when I`m not digging my flowerbeds. The shrubs and garden beds add the perfect amount of greenery to complement the hardscape.
Transforming My Garden with Landscaping and Perennials
Once my husband had made the patio it was my turn to start planting and landscaping. One of my favorite aspects of gardening is watching a space transform over time, especially when it’s filled with the beauty of perennials. So I decided to focus on landscaping and planting perennials in my garden, with the goal of creating a beautiful, low-maintenance landscape that would thrive year after year. I’ve always loved the idea of a garden that evolves and grows with minimal upkeep, and perennials seemed like the perfect choice. Every year I add some seasonal flowers to make things more interesting and get a new look for the whole yard.
The beauty of a perennial garden is that it improves over time. As the plants establish themselves, they grow fuller, bloom more vigorously, and require less maintenance. It’s been a joy watching the garden evolve with each passing season, from the first shoots of spring to the vibrant blooms of summer and the golden tones of fall.
The perennials I planted have not only added beauty to my landscape but have also attracted butterflies, bees, and other pollinators, creating a lively and thriving ecosystem. I love the idea that these plants will continue to bloom and grow for years to come, giving my garden character and charm season after season.
